Animals Age Calculator helps pet owners understand how old their companions really are in human terms. We use models that account for species and, for dogs, body size, instead of the inaccurate “multiply by seven” rule.
Our mission
Knowing your pet's human age helps you understand their life stage, anticipate their needs, and have better conversations with your veterinarian. Our mission is to make that knowledge free, clear, and available for every kind of animal, from the most popular dog and cat breeds to birds, small mammals, reptiles, farm animals, and more.
Why the “times seven” rule is wrong
The idea that one pet year equals seven human years is a myth. Animals grow up far faster than humans in their first year or two, then their aging slows down. The rate also depends on the species and, for dogs, on size, since large and giant breeds age faster than small ones. A single multiplier cannot capture any of that, which is why we built calculators that follow the real shape of the aging curve.
How we work
